Planning Technician / Architectural Technologist w/ strong planning skills

Jordan Station Design Co Inc. is currently seeking another well rounded individual to join our quickly growing Architectural Design Firm!

We exhibit a non-hierarchical office atmosphere that encourages individual creativity, teamwork, self-driven involvement and collaboration with clients and consultants alike. 




As a part of the Jordan Station Design Co team, the successful candidate would be responsible for coordinating and providing assistance to the architectural department here at JSD Co, with planning applications for various municipal approvals. The successful candidate must exhibit exceptional knowledge of The Planning Act and must have skills in utilizing Autodesk Revit software. We are looking for a hard working, detail oriented candidate to work side by side with the lead designers and the remainder of the production staff. In further detail, the successful candidate would be responsible for the following: 




  • Comprehensive zoning analysis for potential projects in a variety of locations;

  • Review architectural drawings for compliance with municipal zoning requirements;

  • Compile and submit applications for zoning, minor variance, site plan, conservations and NEC approvals;

  • Prepare initial site plans and zoning review for all architectural projects using Autodesk Revit;

  • Attend external meetings with various approval agencies;

  • Prepare minor variance presentations and attend committee of adjustment hearings when required;

  • Coordinate arborist reports, site grading/servicing plans and septic designs with our trusted partners;

  • Complete on-site measurements of existing buildings for use by the architectural team;

  • Complete and submit applications for various permit approvals including tree permits, building and demolitions permits, ect; and

  • Work in collaboration with the architectural team.




  • 2+ years experience working as a Planning Technician in municipal planning;

  • Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (or EQ.) or Diploma in Architectural Technology

  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and Bluebeam;

  • Thorough understanding of the Ontario’s land use planning system and municipal government process;

  • Exceptional organization and communication skills;

  • Ability to effectively provide and receive feedback in a positive manner; and

  • Access to a personal vehicle with an Ontario drivers license;

  • A planning technician with a background in Architectural Technology is considered an asset.

  • Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with flexible working hours.
